Joe Gelhardt is certainly enjoying his time away from Leeds United, having now scored three goals in 11 Championship games for Hull City.

Joe Gelhardt was in a very difficult predicament at Leeds United in the first half of the season, with Daniel Farke having handed him just two Championship appearances.

Since joining Hull City on loan, the 22-year-old striker has rediscovered himself, and rediscovered his scoring touch with an all important goal in Hull’s 2-1 win over Oxford United on Wednesday night.

It’s a win that lifts the Tigers five points above the drop zone, and very quickly, Hull City fans have made their minds up about Gelhardt.

Hull City fans want to see Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt stay

It’s not thought that Hull have an option to buy Gelhardt from Leeds. But the Tigers faithful are keen to see the move happen anyway, and Gelhardt has been urged to leave Leeds United.

“Plenty of interest in him at the end of the season, especially if Leeds go up,” said one Hull City fan, adding: “Hopefully he’ll want to stay at City.”

Another posted: “Hope he stays! Get the cheque book out for him!” as a similar comment read: “A priority signing in the summer.”

One fan wrote of Gelhardt: “He’s a breath of fresh air and was the difference last night. Quality and attitude are brilliant.”

And this Hull supporter added: “Absolutely adore everything about this bloke, proper grafter who’d put everything on the line and he’s some talent as well.”

Joe Gelhardt suggests he’s open to permanent Hull City move

With Leeds United back on track for promotion after their 2-0 win over Millwall, and Hull looking to beat the drop, there’ll be little talk about Gelhardt’s future until the summer.

But speaking after his goal against Oxford, the Leeds forward said he’s ‘having a really good time here’, suggesting that he’s open to leaving Leeds United where he was clearly unhappy.

If Gelhardt can keep on scoring and Leeds can earn promotion, then the 49ers could make a nice little profit on the player, who could yet have a lot of suitors come the summer.
