Leeds United return to the field against Manchester United in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday and here’s what you need to know about the game.

It’s been an eventful summer for Leeds United and preparations for their return to the Premier League will step up a gear this weekend as they take on Manchester United in a not-so-friendly.

Leeds will have to wait until January 3 to renew hostilities with Man Utd in a competitive setting, but they will lock horns in an intriguing pre-season preview.

Daniel Farke will be aiming to put his squad through their paces and run the rule over his four new signings.

Jaka Bijol, Lukas Nmecha, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Sebastiaan Bornauw could all make their debuts, and fans will no doubt be excited to catch their first glimpses of them in the new Leeds kit.

Here’s how to watch the game.

What time does Manchester United vs Leeds United kick off?

Leeds face Manchester United at the Strawberry Arena in the Swedish capital of Stockholm on Saturday, July 19.

Kick-off in Sweden is at 2pm, UK time.

How to watch Man Utd vs Leeds United

There are multiple ways to watch the game, though Leeds fans might not be happy with one option…

TV channel

The game will be broadcast live on television, but not by Sky Sports or TNT Sports.

Instead, Man U’s official TV channel, MUTV, has exclusive rights to televise the game in the UK, with coverage starting at 1pm.

MUTV is available through providers Sky and Virgin, but requires an extra fee that Leeds fans are very unlikely to pay for.

Manchester United vs Leeds live stream

Thankfully, Leeds will be broadcasting the match on their own LUTV streaming service.

A match pass to watch the game will set you back £4.99, with Tom Hill and Tony Dorigo set to provide live commentary.

Man Utd vs Leeds team news

Farke nearly has a complete squad available for the game and could utilise it fully by naming two different starting XIs for each half, to get every player some significant game time to shake off the summer rust.

The four new signings could all make their debuts in a new-look Leeds side, while Pascal Struijk and Dan James may return to action after injuries saw them miss the end of last season.

There may also be minutes for the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Crew and even Jack Harrison, who have returned from loan stints away from Elland Road, or youngsters such as Harry Gray.

Leeds are only expected to be without Brenden Aaronson, Willy Gnonto and Mateo Joseph, who were granted extra rest time following their international commitments in June.

Man Utd, meanwhile, could hand debuts to new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, though wantaway stars Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia won’t be involved.

Andre Onana and Lisandro Martinez are sidelined.

Predictions

A pre-season friendly is difficult to predict at the best of times, let alone the opening one with absolutely no prior form to go off and little idea what either starting XI will look like.

However, given the way Man Utd have struggled under Ruben Amorim and their lack of activity in the transfer window, it wouldn’t be surprising if Leeds dealt them an early bloody nose.

Prediction: Leeds United 2-1 Man Utd.
