The FA have released the amount spent by English clubs on agents during the period between February 2024 and February 2025, and Leeds United splashed out a ridiculous amount.

Over the last 12 months, Leeds have made eight permanent signings – bringing Joe Rodon in permanently from Tottenham, Ao Tanaka from Dusseldorf and Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United.

Leeds had to spend having sold eight players, including the exits of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara. But remarkably, Leeds paid almost £20m on player’s agents.

According to a list published by The FA this week as per BBC Sport, Leeds sent out cheques to the tune of £18.8m. An enormous amount that was far more than any other Championship side over the last year.

Leeds splash the cash, more than some Premier League clubs

That £18.8m figure was £400,000 more than Tottenham, just £200,000 less than West Ham and three times as much as Ipswich Town remarkably, given the amount of new signings that Ipswich have made.

Indeed, the figure of £18.8m is more than 11 Premier League clubs including Wolves, Everton, Brighton and Bournemouth as well as other clubs. It is unclear what was paid to which player’s agent during.

Incredibly, Leeds spent just under £2m less than Liverpool did – with Arne Slot’s side about to go and win the Premier League. With Leeds’ finances released and sparking a worrying reaction, this is not ideal news.

How Leeds spending compares to the rest of the Championship

Obviously, Leeds spent more on agents than any other side in the Championship during the period between February 2024 and February 2025. The whole Championship spent little over £60m in total.

The next-highest fee was spent was by Burnley, but even that was only £5.3m – little over a quarter of what Leeds paid. A ridiculous amount of cash spent by The 49ers and Leeds, and somewhat worrying.

Indeed, Leeds will have to spend big this summer in order to fight for survival if promoted to the Premier League. Big amounts will need to be spent, and Leeds cannot afford to waste money on representatives.
