A massive attacking hole was ripped out of Leeds United in the summer following the sales of both Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville – but how are they getting on in the Premier League?

The Championship’s Player of the Season, in the form of Summerville, clocked up a huge 31 goals and assists for Leeds last season. The best player in England outside of the Premier League joined West Ham.

A fee that saw West Ham pay an initial £25m, but £9m more in add-ons. A fee of £5m if certain add-ons are met in terms of performance and a further £4m paid to Leeds when he wins a first Netherlands cap.

Rutter meanwhile, came as more of a surprise. Leeds fans expected Summerville to go even after Archie Gray had joined Tottenham, but not many saw the move of French ace Rutter as he left for Brighton.

Summerville getting more and more involved at West Ham

While he was an unused sub in one of West Ham’s Premier League games against Crystal Palace, pocket-sized Dutch ace Summerville is starting to earn more and more minutes under manager Julen Lopetegui.

He started in the Carabao Cup in West Ham’s late 1-0 win over Bournemouth and came on at half-time on the weekend, as the Hammers drew 1-1 with Fulham. However, he is yet to register a goal or an assist.

That may come with time, and it will be interesting to see if Lopetegui is brave enough to throw the Leeds favourite into his starting line-up on Saturday when West Ham go up against London rivals Chelsea.

Rutter struggling for chance to shine at Brighton after £40m deal

Rutter was handed his first start on Saturday against Ipswich Town, a side that boasted Kalvin Phillips, Leif Davis and Jack Clarke. But he struggled to impress and after 67 minutes, he was taken off in the 0-0 draw.

He was not part of Brighton’s squad in the Carabao Cup against Crawley, and only got tiny cameo roles against Manchester United and Arsenal. Saturday was his only his second Premier League career start.

Rutter will be cup-tied on Wednesday when Brighton take on Wolves in the Carabao Cup, so will have to wait for another chance when the Seagulls go up against Nottingham Forest on Sunday at home.
