Daniel Farke has labelled Leeds United’s decision to keep Nick Hammond at the club long-term ‘perfect’.
It was confirmed earlier this month at an LUFC Trust meeting with chairman Paraag Marathe that Hammond would be staying on until at least the end of next summer.
Hammond was initially brought in on an interim basis by San Francisco 49ers Enterprises all the way back in June in order to buy them time to find an appoint a permanent sporting director to replace Victor Orta.
However, Leeds were left very impressed by the job Hammond did in the summer under very difficult circumstances, and speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Swansea City, Farke has echoed this.
Farke spoke of his excellent relationship with all of Leeds’ staff including Angus Kinnear and Gretar Steinsson, and is grateful for the support he has received.
Farke delighted with Leeds’ decision to keep Hammond
The Leeds manager believes Hammond was the key to the club’s successful summer transfer window and is delighted he can continue to keep working alongside him.
He said: “He’s brilliant and also key to our success in the recent months by gaining more stability for this club. I’ve got great support with Angus, Nick and Gretar, in different roles, but unbelievable support. Nick with his experience, connections, network and quality as a sporting director.
“How he handled things in difficult circumstances, we spoke a lot about our contractual situations. He’s fully committed to our club and I’ve got the feeling it’s the perfect decision to work him longer. It’s a joy to work with him.”

The decision to keep him longer was definitely well deserved for Hammond given the way Leeds’ recruitment is now looking.
The majority of Leeds’ nine summer signings have made strong impacts in the first team already this season, and for those who haven’t their time will come.
With that in mind, there is no reason why Hammond cannot be backed to perform a similar job in the next two windows, regardless of what division Leeds are in.
