‘He would admit’: Journalist shares verdict on form of Leeds loanee, after ‘rash’ start at new club

Birmingham Live journalist Alex Dicken says Leeds United loanee Cody Drameh’s form has improved after a ‘rash’ start to life at Birmingham City.

Dicken provided the update on his loan spell in an interview with Leeds Live, where he claimed Drameh was ‘even’ one of Birmingham’s best players in their recent win over West Brom.

Drameh had been tipped in pre-season to finally make his breakthrough at Leeds but an injury in pre-season meant he started the season as second choice behind Luke Ayling.

It then became clear he had no future under Daniel Farke after Leeds’ attempts to sign Max Aarons, with the final nail in the coffin his cameo off the bench at Ipswich Town, where he was substituted just over 20 minutes after coming on.

As such, Leeds decided to move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence on a season-long-loan, allowing Drameh to complete his third temporary move away from Elland Road to the Blues.

Dicken says Drameh has improved after ‘rash’ start

Reflecting on how the youngster has performed, Dicken says Drameh has got better and better with each game after a ‘rash’ debut, with two assists in his last two matches.

He said: “He looked a little bit rash on his debut, I think he would admit that himself. It was obvious that he hadn’t played much football over the summer but Blues needed him to start games immediately.

“Drameh has improved noticeably in the past month to the point where he was one of Blues’ best players in their victory over West Brom before the international break.

“He recorded back-to-back assists last week and defended superbly. He hasn’t been perfect but Drameh has improved with pitch time.”

Drameh getting confidence back

Upon joining Birmingham on deadline day, it sounds clear Drameh was taking his lack of confidence from Leeds with him to the West Midlands.

He clearly found it difficult to get over the nightmare afternoon he suffered at Ipswich, but with regular game time, now appears to be showing his best form.

Regardless of how he gets on, his Leeds career is almost certainly over with Birmingham having an option-to-buy, and his contract expiring next summer.
