Nadiem Amiri is keen to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer amid interest from Leeds United.

That is according to Sky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who reported a few days ago of his desire to leave the Bundesliga side.

However, Leeds are also set to face competition from Ligue 1 giants Marseille, who have been in talks with the player for a number of days.

In another update by Plettenberg on Saturday, Marseille were said to be leading the race, with a verbal agreement in place between the club and player.

That said, the two teams have seemingly been unable to reach an agreement on a potential fee, which could allow Leeds to jump in and scupper the deal.

Amiri wants to leave Leverkusen amid Leeds & Marseille interest

As per Fabrizio Romano, Leeds have made an offer to Leverkusen for Amiri with Daniel Farke extremely keen on bringing him to Elland Road.

Amid his ‘verbal agreement’ with Marseille, Leeds have also slapped a four-year-deal on the table for Amiri with the decision now firmly in the hands of the player.

Amiri would finally provide Farke’s squad with that creative midfielder it has been crying out for during the early days of his tenure.

In truth, Leeds are still to replace the void left by Pablo Hernandez in that number 10 position and Farke has clearly identified it as a weak point in the squad.

It is going to be tough for Leeds to pip Marseille to the 26-year-old’s signing, but surely the Whites have received some sort of green light in order to make a bid.
