Ethan Ampadu believes Joe Rodon has had a positive start to life at Leeds United.

Ampadu was speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, where he was quizzed on his first few months as a Leeds player during the first international break of the season with Wales.

Both players made the summer switch to Leeds from top Premier League clubs, with Ampadu having joined for £7 million from Chelsea, and Rodon following him on a season-long-loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Alongside Dan James, Ampadu and Rodon now make up three Welsh internationals currently in the Leeds squad, all of whom have a big part to play this season.

Rodon is now in his second loan spell away from Spurs having spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Rennes alongside another one of Leeds’ new signings Djed Spence.

Ampadu says Rodon has impressed at Leeds

Rodon has played 90 minutes in each of Leeds’ last three Championship matches, helping put an end to the Whites’ 23-match wait for a clean sheet against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Ampadu believes that Rodon has ‘settled in well’ in his first few weeks at Elland Road, claiming this is exactly what he needs after a difficult last couple of years.

He said: “We both know how loans go. You do that to get game time and he has settled in well. I don’t think I have to say, if you watch his football, especially with it being a new group, he has done well and everyone is pleased with how each other has done to be honest.

“It’ll be good for him to settle down, knuckle down and play week in, week out. I don’t need to tell you about Joe [Rodon’s] qualities, I think everyone knows it already.”

Rodon is beginning to form an impressive partnership alongside Pascal Struijk in central defence for Leeds, something which has been missing at Elland Road since the days of Ben White and Liam Cooper.

The more Rodon plays, the better he will be with everyone having already seen how good he is at this level from his spell at Swansea City.
