Gus Poyet is impressed with the way Daniel Farke has transformed Leeds United’s mentality during his time at Elland Road.

Poyet was speaking to Football League World where he assessed Leeds’ chances of winning promotion back to the Premier League and the job of Farke so far.

Farke was appointed as Leeds‘ new manager back in July and was forced to navigate through a difficult summer as he inherited a squad of players who, largely, didn’t want to be here.

As a result, Farke was unable to bring in the bulk of his new signings until late in the window, which saw them enter matches against the likes of Birmingham City and West Brom with severely depleted squads.

However, with the window now closed, Leeds are starting to build up ahead of steam with eight points from their last four matches, keeping a clean sheet in all of them.

Poyet praises Farke for recent Leeds impact

Poyet believes the way Farke has managed to overhaul the squad and ‘change the mentality’ shows he is the ‘perfect’ fit at Leeds, and believes they will be challenging for automatic promotion.

He said: “I think the decision by Leeds to bring in Daniel Farke was common sense. I always like to look at the reason behind new managerial appointments and when you look at Farke you see that he has won the Championship twice, so he is perfect.

“It has taken a bit of time for him to change the mentality of the players but slowly I am beginning to see a Leeds side that will definitely challenge for automatic promotion. The Championship is very difficult but I think they have every chance. The manager has proven himself in the division and the players are good enough.”

Even when times were tough at Leeds in the first few weeks of the season, Farke was winning ample praise from supporters for the way he conducted himself.

Now with the on field performances and results having taken a front seat, Leeds seem to be getting better and better.

Everything in which Farke has done so far suggests he was exactly the right managerial choice from San Francisco 49ers Enterprises and long may it continue.
