Leeds are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Karl Darlow from Newcastle after Bournemouth went for Andrei Radu from Inter Milan – and Graham Smyth has told the Inside Elland Road podcast when a deal is likely to be completed.
Last week, it looked as if 32-year-old Darlow would be going to Bournemouth from Newcastle. The Cherries wanted Darlow to compete with current no.1 Neto, with Darren Randolph as cover. Mark Travers is being linked with Stoke.
However, Leeds had also shown interest – despite Illan Meslier yet to go. However, it seems as though the wheels have turned. Bournemouth have moved for Radu and that has allowed Leeds to strike a move to bring in Darlow.
Keith Downie hinted to fans on Twitter that it would be a bargain fee, possibly less than £1m. Smyth says that Leeds could end up announcing a deal for Darlow before the end of the week, before travelling to Scotland to face Hearts.
“I would expect Darlow to happen at this stage. We’re at the stage where it is heading in the right direction. They could get that done before travelling to Edinburgh this weekend,” Smyth said on the Inside Elland Road podcast.

While Leeds fans would have hoped for more signings through the door, with it being less than a fortnight until the first game against Cardiff on August 6 – there will be no arguments with the signings of Ethan Ampadu and Darlow.
Darlow has shown over the years that he is more than adept at Championship level. Even last season, going on loan to Hull he impressed – conceding just 14 in 12 games, keeping five clean sheets. Hopefully, it gets over the line.
