Leeds United are yet to open talks with Cody Drameh over a new contract.
That is according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, who reports while Drameh and Luke Ayling are expected to form Leeds’ right-back options this, discussions have not began over a new deal for the former.
Drameh may finally be handed his opportunity to establish himself as a regular at Leeds this season following the club’s relegation in May but has only a year left on his current contract.
The 21-year-old had found himself behind Rasmus Kristensen and Ayling 12 months ago but with the former gone and the latter having struggled for form in the final few months of last term, an opening is surely there.
Drameh has already proven himself to be more than good enough in the Championship, having shone on loan at Cardiff City and Luton Town in the last two years, winning promotion with the Hatters.
Leeds yet to begin talks over Drameh contract
Leeds appear to have already staved off interest from his former club Luton this summer, who were keen on signing him permanently.
However, it was reported yesterday that Luton have now agreed a deal to sign Manchester City’s Issa Kabore, indicating their interest is now over.
Fellow newly promoted side Burnley have also been mentioned as a potential destination, but again, have also made moves to sign other targets.
Leeds simply must look to tie Drameh down to a long-term deal now and finally hand him the game time he has been craving for so long.
If not now, then it will be never for the 21-year-old.
