Bruno Fernandes is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders. But this season, he’s being closely tracked by a Leeds United player.
Leeds United are pitting themselves against the world’s best teams and players once again, after Daniel Farke steered the club towards the Championship title last season.
Right now, Farke’s side are sitting in 12th place of the Premier League table, after Leeds United’s goalless draw with Newcastle United before the September international break.
All is well so far, but Farke is going to need a lot more from his new-look side throughout the season if he’s to keep his job, and keep Leeds United in the Premier League for a while longer.

Incredible Anton Stach statistic emerges at Leeds United
Anton Stach was Leeds’ most expensive signing this summer. Leeds United are paying around £20million for Stach who joined from Hoffenheim, and so far the towering midfielder has looked a solid signing, albeit without really blowing anyone away just yet.
That said, Stach’s statistics speak for themselves. As it turns out, Stach has created the 2nd most chances of any player in the Premier League so far this season, with 10 to his name: a statistic only bettered by Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United with 12 to his name.
| Player | Chances created in 25/26 |
| Bruno Fernandes | 12 |
| Anton Stach | 10 |
| Bryan Mbeumo | 9 |
| James Ward-Prowse | 8 |
| Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall | 8 |
Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast, journalist Graham Smyth shared his surprise at the statistic, saying: “Does it surprise you that Anton Stach is placed number two in the Premier League’s chances created table? Only Bruno Fernandes has got more chance created this season than Anton Stach.
“That baffled me. And they haven’t been big chances, you know, like the big golden ones that a player has to absolutely put away. But even the fact he’s created 10, I know he takes set pieces, too, that surprised me a little bit. I think I’d struggle to think of 10 chances we’ve had this season.”

Why Anton Stach will be gutted with Leeds United’s transfer window
As Smyth says, Stach takes set plays, so that will boost his chances created stats, although it’ll be the same for Fernandes too. Also, Leeds don’t really seem to have had that many golden chances to score from open play this season.
Nonetheless, the stats don’t lie. Stach is doing exactly what he was brought in to do, but nobody is putting these chances away.
Leeds United wanted to sign new attackers on deadline day but failed to do so. It’s a blow for Farke and also for Stach whose creativity arguably isn’t getting the recognition it deserves, because there’s nobody to put away the chances.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now a man under huge pressure to score the goals and if he can, it’ll also help to bring out the next of Stach and the other creative players in the side.
Leeds United return to action against Fulham this weekend.
