‘Good blend’: Alex Neil tips Leeds for top two finish, impressed with balance of the squad

Stoke City manager Alex Neil has tipped Leeds United for a top two finish come the end of the season.

Neil was speaking to Stoke’s club media channel ahead of tonight’s meeting between the two sides, where he spoke highly of the quality Leeds possess in their squad.

Leeds will be looking to make it four league wins in a row when they make the trip to the Bet365 Stadium, having beaten QPR, Bristol City and Norwich City in their last three outings.

Stoke, meanwhile, will be looking to pull off another surprise result after defeating Neil’s former club Sunderland 2-1 last time out.

After a difficult start to the season, Leeds are now really beginning to click under Daniel Farke, with attacking stars like Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter a menace for any defence.

Neil backs Leeds for top two finish

Speaking ahead of tonight’s game, Neil is impressed with the balance of technical quality and pace in their squad, and feels with Farke at the helm, Leeds will finish the season in the top two.

He said: “I think they are really starting to find their rhythm just now. They had a lot of change on and off the pitch in the summer. They’ve managed to retain some players that have been there a lot of years and also played in the Premier League as well.

“They made some really good signings and I think they’ve got a good blend between technicians and guys who are particularly quick, strong, powerful and athletic. I think he [Daniel Farke] is a really good coach as well.

“It’s going to be a really tough game. I put them up there with the likes of Leicester. I think come the end of the season, they will be in the top two.”

Stoke will represent a tough match this evening having welcomed back some key players from injury against Sunderland, which will resulted in an impressive win.

However, with the quality Leeds have all across the pitch, they should fancy their chances of going anywhere and picking up a result.

There is no doubt Leeds have the quality to finish in the automatic promotion places, but at this rate, it looks like they will be fighting for second, with how good Leicester City are.
