The disappointing news that Rodrigo is sidelined for the next two months is a bitter blow for Leeds United, and the striker reacted on Instagram after the club’s confirmation – prompting reaction from Gjanni Alioski and Stuart Dallas.
Rodrigo, 31, came on to the field of play late on against Accrington Stanley, with the game already won. But, the Spain star has suffered a fracture in his tibia, towards the ankle. He has since had an operation to fix the issue.
But for Leeds, and Rodrigo, it is a blow. Leeds are now without their top scorer, having scored 12 goals this season. For Rodrigo, who was becoming the main man at long last at Elland Road, is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
Rodrigo posted on Instagram after Leeds confirmed he would be sidelined until late March. Jesse Marsch hinted that it could be slightly earlier than that in Friday’s press conference – claiming it is an injury of six to eight weeks.
Reacting to Rodrigo’s Instagram, long-term absentee Stuart Dallas commented. Dallas is likely to be joined by the Spain star in the treatment room over the next few weeks. Alioski also reacted, telling him to “come back stronger”.

It is a massive blow for Leeds, but it could have been a whole lot worse. Leeds have Patrick Bamford back from injury and he looks in good nick, scoring three goals since his operation in Munich. Georgie Rutter has also joined.
The Frenchman has cost Leeds a club-record £35million from Hoffenheim – and the pressure is now on him to deliver straight away. Marsch has also confirmed that Leeds are also without Sonny Perkins for Sunday’s clash.
A crucial match, against Nottingham Forest. It will be interesting to see how Marsch lines up, with Leeds likely to start Bamford up top by himself. It is unclear if Rutter will partner him – and whether Weston McKennie will start.
