Leeds United loanee Rasmus Kristensen has again been criticised for his performance for Roma in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Inter Milan.
Kristensen was handed a 5/10 by Forza Roma for his display at the San Siro, with his inability to prevent crosses coming into the box eventually proving ‘fatal’ in the last 10 minutes.
The Danish international was making his first start for Roma since a 4-1 defeat at Genoa just over a month ago, with Rick Karsdorp having taken his place at right-wing back in recent weeks.
However, his time out of the side has clearly done him little favour, with his display again coming in for criticism by the media, something which has been somewhat of a recurring theme in his time at Roma.
Roma had managed to hold out for 80 minutes at Inter until Kristensen allowed Federico Dimarco to get yet another cross into the box, finding Marcus Thuram to tap home, after he had escaped the attention of Diego Llorente.
Italian media criticise Kristensen
Reflecting on Kristensen’s performance in the defeat, Forza Roma reported of how he offered ‘nothing’ going forward, but was arguably even worse going the other way.
“Kristensen – 5. It’s the surprise of the evening. He has Dimarco on that side who doesn’t joke and often runs away from him, even coming close to scoring in the first half. The Dane tries to make his muscles felt by also asking for help from Mancini.
“In the push phase he is nothing, like everyone else though. However, he wastes a few counterattacks and gets worse in the second half, allowing three crosses to Dimarco, the third being fatal.”
It is a pretty telling statistic that Dimarco was able to attempt 12 crosses across the entire 90 minutes, and much of that was down to the poor defending of Kristensen.
Having already been omitted from the Europa League squad, it is hard to see them looking to convert his stay at Roma into a permanent one, with his performances having mostly been dreadful.
The only thing Leeds can hope is someone else will come in for him as it is quite clear he is not good enough for the top level.
