Gary Neville now predicts the score when Leeds United face Preston North End on Sunday

Leeds United will be looking to build on their recent momentum when they host Preston North End on Sunday.

The Whites have won their last three matches across all competitions by a scoreline of 3-0, putting to bed their difficult run over Christmas which saw them lose back-to-back games for the first time under Daniel Farke.

One of those defeats actually came at the hands of Sunday’s opponents at Deepdale, when Illan Meslier was sent off not long into the second half – a decision which incensed Farke.

But Leeds are very much back on track at both ends of the field, with Patrick Bamford having improved the attack since his first start on New Year’s Day, scoring three in three. Georginio Rutter has also looked brilliant in a deeper role.

In the absence of Pascal Struijk and Liam Cooper, meanwhile, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon have formed a strong partnership in central defence, with Ilia Gruev finally getting his chance in midfield.

Neville predicts Leeds win over PNE

And with all that in mind, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has shared his prediction on the latest episode of the Stick to Football Podcast. He said: “Leeds will win that. 2-0 to Leeds.”

Boxing Day was a really frustrating day at Deepdale and so Leeds will be keen to exact their revenge by coming away with three points.

This would be a really good weekend for Leeds to win with Leicester City hosting second-place Ipswich Town on Monday night, meaning they can gain ground on at least one of them.

Leeds are now in a run of matches where they have a great opportunity to string together a winning run following a difficult December period which saw them drop to fourth.

PNE looked a poor side even in victory last month and with Leeds still unbeaten at Elland Road this season, nothing less than a win will do.
