Leeds United are a Premier League side with the party continuing on Monday as Leeds celebrated the Championship title with an open-top bus parade through the town centre.
Manor Solomon’s injury-time winner on Saturday at Plymouth sent the away end – and some sections of the home crowd – into raptures. Leeds needed to match Burnley’s result to win the Championship trophy.
Burnley beat Millwall 3-1 and Leeds had been left frustrated until Solomon scored, cutting inside after an incisive pass from Willy Gnonto – with Gnonto having scored an equaliser after Sam Byram’s own goal.
The partying spilled into the early hours of Tuesday morning following the bus parade, in which captain Ethan Ampadu was front and centre with the microphone. Pundits have been speaking about Leeds.
Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards have their say
It is often heard from pundits that the Premier League is a better division with Leeds in it, and that is the belief of Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer who discussed the club’s promotion this week.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Richards shared how the city is “buzzing” with Leeds achieving a place in the Premier League. Lineker and Shearer declared themselves delighted that Leeds are back at the top.
Micah Richards started by signing “Marching on Together”, before adding: “The city is absolutely buzzing. It’s great when they’re up. All jokes aside, it’s good for the community. 100 points is great, really good.”
Lineker then added: “It’s [Leeds] a big club, a big club. It’s a team that should be in the top flight,” while Shearer gave his verdict about Leeds’ promotion: “Massive fanbase. I think it’s great that they’re up.”

Leeds have appointed a new sporting director with Angus Kinnear and Nick Hammond departing for Everton, promoting former head of academy Adam Underwood. He is being thrown in at the deep end.
In what is one of Leeds’ most-important summers, Underwood has got to sort out the current playing staff while also identifying the right signings for Farke and build a squad capable of avoiding the drop.
The first stop will be agreeing a permanent deal for Manor Solomon, making decisions on the contracts of Sam Byram and Junior Firpo, and deciding what to do with Leeds’ returning loan stars this summer.
It is claimed Leeds will listen to offers for Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, while David Moyes is a big fan of Jack Harrison’s work rate and may look to sign the Leeds star beyond his current Everton loan.
