Eight points now separate Leeds United and West Ham United in 18th place, after Daniel Farke’s men maintained their unbeaten run to draw 1-1 at Elland Road against Man United.

While Leeds will be disappointed that they could not hold onto Brenden Aaronson’s second goal of the season for more than three minutes, Daniel Farke will have certainly taken a point before the match.

Realistically, how long can Leeds United’s unbeaten run go on for?

The first half was scrappy with limited chances, even if Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit the post and Matheus Cunha scored a disallowed goal. But the second half saw spaces open up and more chances created.

Aaronson opened the scoring with a stunning finish, only for Cunha to make it 1-1 moments later, and from that point on, it was anyone’s game. It ended in a draw, but in truth, either side could have won.

Will Leeds go down? Gudmundsson shares what the squad thinks

Before the game, even before Leeds had drawn with Man United, Paul Merson claimed West Ham are down after their 3-0 hammering at Wolves. Now, the gap has stretched to eight points over the Hammers.

Speaking to LUTV after the game, Gudmundsson was asked if Leeds are confident of survival come the end of the season. The Sweden international shared what the Leeds squad are all thinking as things stand.

“The question is more that we just need to take one game at a time. I know it is a boring answer, but that is really how it is. This league is tough, we know that, we need to stay focused and composed every time.”

Leeds United’s next five fixtures are a little easier…

Leeds’ run of seven games without defeat has seen the Whites face Liverpool on two occasions, Man United, and Chelsea. They’ve also played Sunderland and Brentford away, and FA Cup winners Palace.

It could quite easily have been seven defeats, and yet, Leeds have secured 11 points. The next five games, however, seem a touch easier. An indifferent Newcastle next, then Fulham at home after the FA Cup clash.

Everton away after Derby, who have struggled of late at their new stadium. Arsenal at Elland Road is then followed by Forest’s visit to Yorkshire. Leeds have a real chance of getting a couple of wins this month.
