Owen Hargreaves left blown away by one Leeds United player v Man United, he’s ‘so clever’

The unbeaten run continues for Leeds United after Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Elland Road, and Owen Hargreaves was left impressed by one Elland Road star.

There was almost an expectation and a pressure on Leeds going into Sunday’s game, for three reasons. Leeds’ form at home has been excellent, and fans feel that the Whites can beat anyone at Elland Road.

Aaronson gets a 9, but duo get 5 out of 10 – do you agree? 🤔

Probably Aaronson's best-ever Leeds display.

The second, Man United’s form had been indifferent, coming into the game after drawing with Wolves. Third, there was pressure because West Ham, Burnley and Nottingham Forest had all been beaten.

Maintaining that unbeaten run was crucial and Leeds did just that, even if Farke and fans may feel that on another day, Leeds could have come away with more. But for Brenden Aaronson, he will be delighted.

Brenden Aaronson earns Owen Hargreaves praise after goal

Aaronson has been in sensational form of late. Aidy White reckons Aaronson has been Farke’s best player for the last few weeks and on Sunday, he scored a superb goal and the American more than deserved it.

This is the same player who fluffed his lines against Burnley. He’s managed to put aside massive criticism to shine of late, and on Sunday, his performance was perhaps his best since his £25m move to Leeds.

On TNT Sports, former England star Owen Hargreaves raved about Aaronson, his goal, and his willingness to get involved: “He’s such a good player, technically. He just gambles. Weight of the pass is amazing.

“But the finish is perfect. So clever. Technically he’s a really good player, on the ball, he’s a no.10 and loves to get on the ball. One of the most important things is running in behind and he times it well,” he added.

Leeds United fans told they’re being unfair on Brenden Aaronson 🗣️

“The criticism he’s got is not fair. Players don’t like it. We are working with human beings. Let’s not treat him like he’s a product. We have to treat him in a fair way. Best offensive player stats in last few games.”

Aaronson will be catching the eye of Mauricio Pochettino

In a World Cup year, it is common to find players on the fringes of their National Team squads suddenly produce their best form. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, for example, is in stunning form after moving to Leeds.

But for Aaronson, there is more on the line. Not only is the American finally trying to justify his massive transfer fee while winning a place in America’s World Cup squad, but it is a World Cup in America.

A home World Cup, along with Mexico and Canada. Aaronson will be absolutely desperate to be a key member of Pochettino’s squad, having been on the fringes at the Gold Cup back in the summer.

If USA boss Mauricio Pochettino has been watching the last few weeks, he will certainly be interested in not only calling Aaronson up, but making him a key player alongside Christian Pulisic and others.
