Max Aarons is close to sealing a move to Leeds United from Norwich and could be available to face Birmingham City this weekend – and Charlie Cresswell is a big fan, praising him before this summer’s U21 European Championships.
Aarons, 23, is expected to leave Norwich with his contract due to expire at the end of the season. A new deal with the Canaries is unlikely, so Norwich have had to cash in this summer. Leeds have come calling, and a move is likely.
The Pink Un reports that a deal worth £12m including add-ons is in place and talks are at an advanced stage. A real sign of intent from Leeds, who are also closing in on a loan deal for Tottenham defender Joe Rodon this summer.
With there being numerous injuries in defence – in the form of Liam Cooper, Cody Drameh, Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas – bringing in reinforcements is key. Aarons could line-up alongside Cresswell soon, in a new-look back four.
The duo were part of England U21’s Euro success and Cresswell told England’s website: “Another great player. He’s played lots of games and is very experienced. He brings that experience to the group and he’s a funny guy as well.”

The new-look right side of the Leeds defence. Aarons and Cresswell on the right of the defence is a combination of potential Premier League quality. Aarons has already shown that he is good enough to play in England’s top division.
For Cresswell, he is a couple of years behind Aarons in terms of his development. Especially considering, Aarons is probably ahead of the curve having played north of 200 games. The duo can be the future of half of our defence.
