‘Frankly rubbish’… David Prutton baffled by ‘completely inaccurate’ Daniel Farke comments after Leeds defeat

David Prutton has suggested Daniel Farke’s comments about Sunderland parking the bus in Leeds United’s defeat on Tuesday were ‘completely inaccurate’.

Leeds were beaten 1-0 at the Stadium of Light in midweek as a late header from Jobe Bellingham punished a lacklustre performance from the away side.

Farke was less than impressed with a number of aspects surrounding the game, as he criticised the state of the pitch and referee, while also suggesting that Sunderland parked the bus.

However, writing in his latest column for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Prutton has criticised Farke for his comments after the game, stating that they were ‘frankly rubbish’.

Instead, Prutton believes Leeds will not go onto achieve their aspirations this season if Farke is unable to find the answers against sides who are happy to sit in, given the players they have.

Prutton unimpressed by Farke comments

He said: “I know we are flying through the season but it’s important to maintain focus and perspective. Sunderland have got some very good players. Jack Clarke is a good player. Patrick Roberts comes off the bench and he is a very good player.

“And I thought the phrase that came out of Daniel Farke’s mouth about Sunderland parking the bus was just completely inaccurate. To say that a team that is compact, solid and hard to break has parked the bus is quite frankly rubbish.

“If Leeds don’t have the answers to teams that are going to defend in that type of way, rigidly with discipline then it’s going to be a long season that’s going to end in disappointment. They’ve got the players to break that type of stuff down.”

Hard to disagree with Prutton comments

Prutton is definitely correct in what he has written here, though it is likely that Farke came out and said this publicly in order to take the blame away from his side.

Leeds were well below their best in midweek and were punished for a tired performance, with Sunderland arguably the better team, aside from the first 20 minutes of the match.

Farke should’ve looked to change his side early and freshen things up, but ultimately Leeds will now be focusing on today’s match with Coventry anyway.
