Frank Lampard is closing in on the Coventry City job and is expected to be in the dugout to face Cardiff City on the weekend, and is set to lean on a former Leeds United player to help him.
Unfortunately for Leeds United fans, The Whites have already faced Coventry at Elland Road this season. A 3-0 win, in a game that saw Ethan Ampadu pick up a long-term knee injury just before half-time.
Coventry decided to sack long-standing manager Mark Robins last month and now, Lampard is set to take over. A big call from Coventry, who are set to hand Lampard a return to management at long last.
Leeds fans have already had their say on Lampard joining Coventry, and now The Athletic among other outlets say Lampard is set to put pen to paper on a contract at Coventry until the summer of 2027.

Frank Lampard to seek help from former Leeds man at Coventry
Wherever Lampard has gone, Jody Morris has followed. Morris made 12 league appearances for in the 2003-04 season, a campaign in which Leeds were relegated after Peter Ridsdale’s financial collapse.
Morris has been Lampard’s assistant at Derby and then at Chelsea. He was not Lampard’s right-hand man at Everton, as he embarked on his own managerial career with Swindon – winning just four of 18 matches.
However, The Coventry Telegraph report that Morris is likely to team up with Lampard again at Coventry. Lampard’s first game in charge will come in the form of Cardiff on Saturday, a good first game to have.
Curtis Davies told BBC Radio 5 Live last week: “A big strength was Jody Morris, excellent coach. Frank was more measured in the way he said things and more cutthroat with his words rather than loud and brash.
“Jody cut through on the training pitch would be in players’ faces, telling them exactly what he thought. That relationship, along with the excellent coaching of Jody Morris, is what kind of got us to that success.”
Frank Lampard’s record against Leeds since becoming a manager
Lampard has faced Leeds as a manager at Derby, Chelsea and Everton, but Leeds fans will have to wait to face Lampard again until February 8. The Whites will be confident of a win, given this season’s 3-0 victory.
Lamaprd’s record against Leeds as a manager:
| Date | Club | Competition | Venue | Result |
| August 11, 2018 | Derby | Championship | Pride Park | 4-1 Leeds win |
| January 11, 2019 | Derby | Championship | Elland Road | 2-0 Leeds win |
| May 11, 2019 | Derby | Championship (play-off semi-final first leg) | Pride Park | 1-0 Leeds win |
| May 15, 2019 | Derby | Championship (play-off semi-final second leg) | Elland Road | 4-2 Derby win |
| December 5, 2020 | Chelsea | Premier League | Stamford Bridge | 3-1 Chelsea win |
| February 12, 2022 | Everton | Premier League | Goodison Park | 3-0 Everton win |
| August 30, 2022 | Everton | Premier League | Elland Road | 1-1 draw |
A fairly mixed bag , but what is concerning for Leeds fans is Daniel Farke’s record against Lampard. The German has faced Lampard on four occasions, failing to win any of them and actually losing three times.
All four coming as Norwich manager, losing and drawing against Derby before suffering two defeats to Chelsea with Lampard in the dugout. Hopefully for Farke, that run comes to an end in February.
