Four players who could leave if Leeds land top targets; 23-year-old and man with two league starts already

Leeds United look set for a very busy final week of the window.

The Whites are pressing on with incoming transfer business and have already brought in Joel Piroe from Swansea City, with more expected to follow.

As per Phil Hay, Leeds have agreed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri, while Sky Sports are also reporting talks are at an advanced stage with Genk for Joseph Paintsil.

Glen Kamara, Lewis O’Brien and Djed Spence are among the names who have also been linked, but if the majority of these targets are landed, then Leeds will surely need to move on some fringe players.

So, with that in mind, here is a look at four who could still go.

Ian Poveda

Perhaps a tad controversial given Ian Poveda’s pre-season and start to the campaign, but if Paintsil arrives, and Luis Sinisterra, Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and Dan James all stay, where does he fit?

Poveda is now 23 and at an age where he needs to be playing regularly and that just isn’t likely to happen at Elland Road with so many players now in front of him.

Joe Gelhardt

Another potentially surprising one given he has started the last two league matches, Joe Gelhardt must surely be looking at the options in Leeds’ squad and wonder if game time will be as regular as he hopes.

Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter are likely to be ahead of him in that central striker position, while Leeds also have a plethora of players who can play in that three just behind.

Another late loan deal wouldn’t be a surprise here.

Cody Drameh

Leeds are clearly in the market for a new right-back, with Daniel Farke seemingly having turned his attention towards Spence after the failed approach of Max Aarons earlier this month.

Cody Drameh has not been handed the game time he would’ve wanted this season and with Premier League interest, it is hard to see him staying.

Sam Greenwood

Sam Greenwood is still yet to really nail down a position at Leeds, but of those that he has played – like Gelhardt – there are so many players likely to be ahead of him.

If either O’Brien or Kamara arrive in central midfield, he would find himself at best as fourth choice, while the number 10 position is also filled with several high quality options.

He is at a point where he simply needs regular game time.
