The 49ers will be planning ahead of Leeds United’s next campaign, but a fan favourite seemingly wants a role in what could be a successful future.

With all the news surrounding Angus Kinnear, Leeds will need to try and combat the CEO’s departure with a plan.

Jurgen Klopp could be involved in Kinnear’s replacement as the 49ers will know they need a strategy moving forward.

The structure at the club isn’t the finished article just yet, as what Paraag Marathe does next surrounding Kinnear will be telling to the Leeds faithful.

Well, it might not be an immediate future, but one former Leeds favourite has thrown his hat in the ring to be involved in this 49ers structure.

Liam Cooper sends message to the 49ers about Leeds United return

Liam Cooper is no doubt a Leeds legend.

Captaining the club back to the Premier League after a 17-year absence is some feat, and the Scotsman will always be welcomed back to Elland Road.

Well, Cooper might want that welcome sooner than expected.

Upon his contract expiry, the 33-year-old made a unique next step in his footballing career, signing for Bulgarian outfit, CSKA Sofia, but in an interview with MailOnline, Cooper sent a message to the 49ers about his future with Leeds.

“I’ve started a Masters degree and my ultimate dream is to be the sporting director at Leeds,” Cooper said.

Cooper would make for a brilliant future appointment at Leeds

Cooper has always shown his gritty attitude and ambition to win, and that’s exactly what Leeds could do with on their revamped board.

His leadership speaks volumes as Cooper has already captained Sofia, having only been at the club since September.

But what the Sporting Director role covers is the club’s philosophy and finding the perfect strategy to manage the club as a whole, and who better than a man who captained Leeds for ten years.

With Cooper’s injury struggles, the former Leeds man could return to Elland Road sooner than expected and the centre-back could put Victor Orta’s tenure as Sporting Director to shame.
