February 2023 was a topsy-turvy month for Leeds United as the club decided to sack Jesse Marsch and after Michael Skubala’s stint, in came Javi Gracia. During that time, Tajon Buchanan was linked.

The 35-time Canada star has impressed over the last couple of years at Belgian giants Club Brugge – in a number of positions. On either flank as an attacker, a wing-back, a full-back – or even in the middle.

Much like, a certain Stuart Dallas. Buchanan has also thrived on the international scene and that saw Leeds interested in a move to land the 24-year-old. Back in February 2023, Inter Milan were also linked.

Fast forward almost a year, and it looks like Buchanan is set to end his two-year stint in Belgium – after joining Brugge from MLS side New England. That is according Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, on Monday.

Inter Milan set to sign 2023 Leeds United target Tajon Buchanan

Buchanan would have been a solid signing. A player with plenty of potential that can operate in many different positions, the ideal kind of player to have on the bench – in order to cover a number of roles.

With Dallas out of contract at the end of the season, perhaps bringing in a player like Buchanan would have made sense. If Leeds did have interest, that ended with relegation. No chance of a move, then.

Eyes may be kept on how he does at Inter, with the Canadian unlikely to start week in, week out. Maybe, come the summer, he could be available on loan and if Leeds gain promotion then – who knows?

But right now, Buchanan is closing in on a move away from Brugge to Inter for a fee that could reach as high as £8.7m. A deal could be done for the Canadian star by the end of play on Wednesday, this week.
