Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim that Leeds United are battling Serie A side Inter Milan in the race to sign Brugge and Canada star Tajon Buchanan – though the versatile ace could cost a large sum of between £22m and £26.5m.
Buchanan, 24, joined Brugge in January 2022 from MLS side New England. It comes after having a hand in 23 goals in 67 games for the American outfit. He joined Brugge a year ago, and has since clocked up 37 games for Brugge.
Helping Brugge win the Belgian title last season – alongside Charles De Ketelaere – Buchanan is impressing this season despite playing in a number of positions. He is able to play on either side of the defence, or either wing.
Buchanan has a contract until the summer of 2025. The report claims that his impressive form, which has seen him start five of Brugge’s seven Champions League games, has attracted Leeds and Inter. He would not come cheap.
Having also impressed for Canada in Qatar and laying on an assist for one of two Canada’s goals, Buchanan is rated at a fee between £22m and £26.5m. Leeds of course, were in contact with Brugge last season for De Ketelaere.

Do Leeds need a player like Buchanan? Naturally a right footer, he is best on the right flank. Either as a right wing-back, or a winger. He is capable of playing on the left as a full-back or a winger, but is best on the right flank.
Leeds have Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen. Ayling has signed a new deal. Cody Drameh is out on loan but is expected to have a future at Elland Road. Leeds have plenty of options on the right wing. So, Buchanan is not key.
