Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday night that Championship rivals Leicester City have pencilled in a medical for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks ahead of a £10m move – amid reports that Leeds were also considering him.
Winks has returned to Spurs this summer after a tricky year on loan at Andrea Radrizzani’s new club Sampdoria, where he managed just 20 outings due to an ankle issue in the first half of the season. He failed to prevent the drop.
The England international has a year left on his Spurs deal and with Ange Postecoglou’s side already spending the best part of £60m on Gugliemo Vicario and James Maddison – from Leicester – Spurs have decided to sell Winks.
Italian site Samp News 24 said that Leeds were looking at Winks, but Postecoglou wanted to take a look first. But now, with Leeds yet to appoint a new manager, the Foxes have moved first – Romano says a schedule is booked.

Leeds need a midfielder. Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Adam Forshaw could all follow Weston McKennie out of the exit door – though, Forshaw does seem likely to remain. Winks would have given Leeds another option in midfield.
But there are question marks surrounding the Spurs man. He seems a completely different player to the one that starred in the Champions League against Madrid at Wembley. Fallen down the pecking order, injuries increasing.
He needs a move to a club that is going to play him regularly and get on the ball. Leicester or Leeds would have been smart moves, but with the Foxes having a manager in place and money to play with – he is off the King Power.
