‘Excellent so far’: Daniel Farke claims 21-year-old Leeds United player has been superb since he took charge

Daniel Farke has hailed Georginio Rutter’s performances since his arrival as manager of Leeds United as ‘excellent’.

Farke was speaking in his post match interview on Sky Sports following Leeds’ superb 1-0 win away at Leicester City on Friday night, in which Rutter’s goal was the difference between the two sides.

Rutter had gone eight matches without a goal until the match at the King Power, though was still continuing to earn several plaudits thanks to his brilliant all round game.

The 21-year-old has already created 14 big chances so far this season, seven more than those in second place – Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Sorba Thomas and Nathan Broadhead.

Despite that, Rutter will have been keen to get himself back on the scoresheet and that’s exactly what he did against Leicester as he tapped home from close range after Sam Byram’s initial header was saved.

Farke delighted with Rutter on the scoresheet

Speaking on Rutter getting back on the scoresheet, Farke spoke of how pleased he was that it was him who scored the winner as his ‘all-round performances’ have deserved it.

He said: “Happy for him because his all round performance has been excellent so far this season. He has a lot of pace but we have spoken that we can improve his goal tally. I’m happy for him, but it was definitely a team success and I’m even more happy with the clean sheet.”

Rutter’s dribbling, passing and pace is what has been earning him praise this season but it is nice to see him finally score a proper strikers goal.

It might not be the best goal he will ever score but strikers always value those where he finds himself in the right place at the right time and has the easiest of tap ins.

Hopefully that will give him the confidence in front of goal to go and score even more alongside all of the other incredible things he is offering the team.
