Everton in talks to sign 2020 Bielsa target, could now green light exit for player Leeds want

Everton are now in talks over a deal with Southampton for striker Che Adams, which could hand Leeds United a boost in their pursuit of an attacker.

According to Alan Nixon on his Patreon, the Toffees are currently at the front of the queue for the Scotland international, ahead of the likes of Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Wolves.

Everton are looking to get a deal over the line for a fee in the region of £12 million, with Adams keen on a return to the Premier League after Southampton’s relegation last season.

Adams has netted in both of the Saints’ opening two Championship fixtures of the season, but it appears likely he will be leaving St. Mary’s before the end of the window.

The 27-year-old was wanted by Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds back in 2020 to no avail, but could indirectly help the Whites in their own search for a new number nine.

Leeds are among the sides interested in signing striker Tom Cannon from Everton, who will be allowed to leave Goodison Park either on loan or permanently before the end of the window.

However, the green light for his departure will only arrive once they are able to sign another striker of their own, with Sean Dyche eager to ensure they are not left short in attack as they ease Dominic Calvert-Lewin back to full fitness.

As per Nixon, Everton had been taking a look at Leicester City’s Patson Daka but struggled to make progress in a deal, which has delayed Cannon’s exit so far this summer.

However, with Adams now seemingly close to making a move to Merseyside, a decision on Cannon’s future is not too far away.

According to Nixon, Preston North End are currently favourites to sign him on loan for a second time, but Leeds have been keeping close tabs on the situation.
