Leeds keeping eye on Everton ace with £8m price tag – but Andrea Radrizzani is keen

The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon that Leeds United are keeping tabs on Everton striker Tom Cannon but a loan move to Preston is expected – while Andrea Radrizzani’s Sampdoria are also keen.

Cannon, 20, went on loan to Preston for the second half of the season. Playing 21 times for the Championship side, he scored an impressive eight goals. He has now returned to Everton, where he is yet to make his first-team debut.

But, he has scored an impressive 22 goals in 55 games for the U21 side. So, clearly, Cannon is going to be a striker in demand in the second-tier. Preston are confident of securing a second loan spell for Cannon, on Wednesday.

However, there has been a delay. Nixon says Preston actually hoped to get him last week – after agreeing to pay a huge loan fee. But Cannon was on the bench against Fulham and is likely to be available as the 21’s face Liverpool.

Now, there are four clubs considering a permanent £8m move. Sampdoria, now owned by Radrizzani, are one of those. Leeds are keeping an eye, while Sunderland and Stoke have asked Everton about signing him permanently.

What a signing Cannon would be. At this stage, Leeds just need signings. Willy Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra refused to play for Leeds and their absence – along with 11 players being out injured – saw Daniel Farke limited in his options.

Just six outfield players on the bench at Birmingham City yesterday, ending in a 1-0 loss. Leeds need a striker – and Cannon is a proven Championship goal getter, young, and at a decent price. Everton might use it to their advantage.
