Everton may have beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in the Premier League but Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison has come in for some serious criticism.
The clash at Goodison Park was already looking like an early season six-pointer at the bottom of the table but Sean Dyche’s side were able to ease to a comfortable home win.
Harrison was starting on the bench for the fifth game in a row and was introduced as a 74th minute substitute in place of Dwight McNeil, with the score already at 4-0.
It has now been over 12 months since Harrison last provided a Premier League assist, while his wait for a goal is now at nine months. That shows the lack of confidence he is playing with.
Leeds fans know all too well how poor Harrison can be when confidence levels are low, and it appears as though he is really feeling it at Goodison Park.
Everton fans fume at late Harrison cameo
Considering how poor Everton have been this season, a 4-0 win over a potential relegation rival should have had fans absolutely buzzing on Twitter post-match.
However, a lot of them actually wanted to focus on the dreadful 16 minute cameo of Harrison, with one suggesting it was the ‘worst cameo’ he has ever seen in the Premier League.
Another said: “McNeil tonight was absolutely horrendous and it takes a special player to be subbed on and look worse than McNeil. Enter Jack Harrison.”
One fan even went as far as saying he doesn’t ever want to see Harrison ‘darken our door again’ due to how costly those missed chances could’ve proven on another day.
Another agreed: “I love how even on a night where almost everything went right, Jack Harrison comes on for 5 minutes and makes me kick off three times. We can’t even have 4-0 wins easy.”
Everton not considering early Harrison return to Leeds
As a result of Harrison’s terrible run of form, rumours have gathered on Twitter in recent days about Everton potentially sending him back to Leeds early.
However, according to Team Talk, that is not the case, and a decision certainly won’t be made until the proposed new ownership group takes over.
It is unlikely a short 16-minute cameo will change their mind but it has to be said that was written before Harrison’s disaster class against Wolves.
One thing that does feel like it won’t be happening is Everton signing Harrison on a permanent deal, which would give Leeds a decision to make in the summer.
