Europa League side can sign Leeds player for £10.5m, but that fee could dramatically reduce

Real Betis have the option to sign Leeds United player Marc Roca permanently for a fee of £10.5m at any point during his loan with the Spanish club – but that fee could dramatically drop in due course.

Leeds have a number of players out on loan but only a couple of those have permanent options, and Roca is one of those. The midfielder has been impressing in Spain with Betis, after a difficult three years.

He has started 16 of Betis’ 18 games in all competitions – even scoring four goals and being linked with a call-up to Spain’s National side. Roca said this week that he’s in talks with Betis over a permanent move.

Now, Mundo Deportivo report that Betis have an option to land Roca for a permanent fee of £10.5m. But, that fee will reduce at the end of 2023-24, if Daniel Farke fails to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Roca needs to just leave the club and end his association with Leeds. Like a lot of loan players such as Diego Llorente, Luis Sinisterra, Brenden Aaronson and more. They have no place at Elland Road, now.

If Leeds get the full £10.5m fee for Roca, great. A small profit on the fee we paid Bayern in the summer of 2022. If we get a smaller fee and remain in the Championship, then we need to just cut our losses.

If we get anything north of £7m for Roca, it would be good business for Leeds. He is not good enough for the intensity of English football and it is easily argued that we have better options in midfield, now.

Ethan Ampadu was bought for a similar fee to the one spent on Roca and the Wales star is a whole lot better, and younger. Glen Kamara was a bargain at £6m. So, any decent fee is worth taking for Roca.
