PSV Eindhoven are set to complete the signing of former Leeds United target Noa Lang from Club Brugge.

That is according to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, who reports PSV are set to pay less than £13 million for the 24-year-old, almost half that Leeds were quoted two years ago.

Lang was a player Leeds’ former sporting director Victor Orta chased for two consecutive summers during his time at the club, but on each occasion was left empty handed.

Leeds’ most concrete interest came back in the summer of 2021, when the club targeted him as a marquee arrival after securing a ninth place finish in their first season back in the Premier League.

However, according to the Athletic, Marcelo Bielsa decided to pull the plug on the deal due to concerns over his defensive capabilities, instead spending £25 million on Dan James.

With Bielsa no longer at the helm the following summer, Orta’s interest in signing Lang remained, particularly after star winger Raphinha made the move to Barcelona.

However, Leeds instead opted to sign Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord, with Lang staying at Club Brugge for another season despite his desire to move elsewhere.

Leeds were quoted just over £21 million for Lang’s signature back in the summer of 2021, with PSV now set to pay considerably less than that.

Lang is just one of a number of missed opportunities in terms of recruitment for Leeds during their three-year stay in the Premier League.

Orta tried and failed to bring in the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Rodrigo de Paul, Cody Gakpo and more, all of whom are now onto bigger things.
