Real Betis could sign Marc Roca on loan for a second season if Leeds United are not promoted.
That is according to Mucho Deporte, who report Betis could look to extend Roca’s time at the club by another year on the condition Leeds do not return to the Premier League this season.
Roca was one of eight members of last season’s first team squad to depart Elland Road on loan in the summer in the wake of Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.
So far, Roca has received mixed reviews for his performances, with Spanish journalist Carlos Freytas Palomo telling the Yorkshire Evening Post he has often struggled in matches.
On the other hand, Roca has scored two goals, been named in Spain’s provisional squad for the most recent international break, and also been praised by Betis’ director Ramon Planes.
Betis could sign Roca on loan again
It is interesting to read that the Spanish press consider another loan move for Roca only possible if Leeds do not return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
For many supporters, each of the players who departed on loan in the summer have now burnt their bridges with the club, and therefore would not be welcome back.
That desire would be heightened even more so if Leeds are to be promoted, as it would be an injustice against the players who have come in and fought if they were then to be replaced by those who jumped ship.
The best solution for all parties would be to negotiate a permanent deal for the likes of Roca, for somewhere as close as possible for what Leeds paid Bayern Munich for him.
Even if it is not Betis who end up signing him, his performances so far should gather more than enough interest from other clubs to ensure he is moved on permanently.
