Ethan Ampadu has urged Joe Rodon to sign for Leeds United on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur with the Welshman shining at Elland Road on loan – after today’s win over Middlesbrough.
Rodon, 26, has been no fire since arriving at Leeds this summer. The Wales star has played 16 times for us, helping us keep four clean sheets and secure 10 wins in that time. But Rodon remains only on loan.
Rodon has of course joined a club that boasts two of his Wales teammates in Ampadu, and Dan James. Leeds will be desperate to keep the ex-Swansea man – but TeamTalk say Spurs want a fee of £20million.
But that fee could reduce quite substantially come next summer, with Rodon set to enter the final year of his Spurs contract – which expires in June 2025. Leeds could use that to their advantage in a deal.
But that is a long time in the future. Today, Rodon took to Instagram as Leeds secured an eighth win in their last 10 games, against a promotion rival in Boro – winning 3-2 in what was an enthralling game.

What Leeds have in their corner in terms of signing Rodon beyond the end of his loan spell, is that we have two of his best mates in Ampadu and James. The presence of that duo helps us land the defender.
It will prove tempting. But Rodon has shown in the past couple of months that he is a player that is good enough for the Premier League. So, if Leeds are to stand a chance of keeping him, we need promotion.
On Saturday, Ampadu has commented on Rodon’s Instagram – urging him to “please stay”.
