All eyes will be on Turf Moor on Monday night. Leeds United go up against Burnley in a fierce battle between 1st and 3rd place in the Championship.
On Friday night though, all eyes were on Sheffield United as they lost 3-0 at home to Hull City, in a game that’s really opened up the race for automatic promotion.
Now, Leeds United have the chance to pull four points clear of the Blades in 2nd whilst Burney have the chance to leapfrog Sheffield United and go level on points with leaders Leeds.
After Friday’s defeat, Blades boss Chris Wilder said it’s still early in the promotion race. He’s right of course with Leeds still having 18 games to play this season, and that’s without counting any possible play-off games. But Monday’s game between Leeds and Burnley certainly feels like a mini title-decider.
Both go into the game in strong form with the Whites unbeaten in 11 in all competitions and Burnley unbeaten in 16. Earlier in the season, Burnley beat Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road.

Benjamin Bloom shares his Burnley vs Leeds United score prediction
Speaking on the Championship Check In podcast, EFL expert Benjamin Bloom has shared his score prediction for Monday night’s crunch match at Turf Moor. And Bloom says that one team is simply ‘better’ than the other right now.
He said: “Burnley versus Leeds United on Monday night. This should be absolutely brilliant, but it should be very tense, very competitive, and probably very low margin… I think Leeds are better than Burnley.
“I think home advantage means something but if you look, Burnley have had a lot of home draws. I know they’re undefeated, I think there is revenge here for Leeds’ defeat to Burnley at Elland Road.”
Bloom has predicted a 1-0 Leeds United win away at Burnley.
What Scott Parker has said about Leeds United ahead of Monday
Burnley boss Scott Parker is looking for a career third promotion from the Championship as a manager, as is Leeds boss Daniel Farke who’s won the title twice with Norwich City in the past.
And speaking ahead of Monday, Parker has shared his verdict on Leeds United and the upcoming game at Turf Moor. He said: “A big game for us. A big game for both teams, really. We understand the magnitude of this game, two teams that have done very, very well up to this point in the year.
“We are playing against a really exciting team in terms of the way they play. A team that has been together now for probably 18 months with not massive, massive changes, albeit they’ve of course sold some players.”
A win for either team could be decisive in the run in. It’ll not only put some vital points on the board, and take points off the other, but give the winning side a huge confidence kick in time for the real crunch matches of the campaign.
