Fabrizio Romano has reported on Wednesday morning that Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno has agreed a move to Qatari side Al-Rayyan, and is undergoing a medical. In an exclusive on Twitter, Romano says it is a “done deal”.
Rodrigo, 32, was always expected to leave Leeds this summer, with his contract at Elland Road due to expire next summer. The Spain star’s wages were too expensive for The 49ers to be able to keep him in Yorkshire this summer.
He has been linked with a whole host of clubs this summer. Ben Jacobs suggested PSG, Brighton and Aston Villa all looked at Rodrigo. A return to La Liga had been touted, with Victor Orta looking to reunite with Rodrigo at Sevilla.
But there have also been suggestions of a move to the Middle East. Now, that looks set to come true. Romano says he will be move to Qatar, not Saudi Arabia, with Al-Rayyan. Ex-Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim is currently manager.
He will team up with ex-Southampton man Sofiane Boufal and ex-Lille and Lyon midfielder Thiago Mendes, too. It is reported that Rodrigo is undergoing a medical currently and a deal will be confirmed later today, as per Romano.

So, Rodrigo has made a decision. Instead of returning to Spain and looking to do enough to earn a place in Spain’s National Team ahead of Euro 2024, Rodrigo has decided to earn a big pay cheque and move to Qatar this summer.
Given he is now 32, it is the kind of done thing. But it would have been nice to have seen him go to a Spanish side, do well and win a place at Euro 2024. A move to the Middle East is likely to end those chances of a Spain spot.
