CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs has told the Leeds United Ultras channel on YouTube that PSG, Aston Villa and Brighton are all said to be interested in signing Leeds striker Rodrigo – with the Spaniard expected to leave the club.

Rodrigo, 32, enjoyed his best season for Leeds in 2022-23 since joining the club from Valencia in 2020. Typically, it came in a campaign where Leeds were relegated. He finds himself back in the Spain squad, but is likely to be sold.

That is due to the situation surrounding his contract – which is about to enter the last 12 months. His wages are said to be too high for the second tier and the Whites need to cash in. Any transfer fee for Rodrigo is going to be small.

Because of his age, relegation and contractual situation. Spanish site COPE reported that Real Madrid are looking at Rodrigo, for a possible £3m. Now, Jacobs says PSG, Villa and Brighton could all make a move to land the forward.

“There is an opportunity for clubs to get a bargain. He is being looked at by a variety of clubs, PSG are one to watch, I’m told Villa are watching his situation very closely. Brighton are on the lookout. It is hard to see Rodrigo staying.”

PSG are set to lose Lionel Messi, Neymar’s injury issues are worsening and Kylian Mbappe may go to Real Madrid in the coming weeks and months – following Jude Bellingham. So, PSG will certainly need additions in the final third.

Rodrigo will not be a starting striker for PSG but he would certainly come in to provide cover. Villa have Ollie Watkins up top, who has been sensational. Rodrigo may play second fiddle to him, but are of course in the Europa League.

But his best move might be a move to the South Coast with Brighton. The Seagulls have Danny Welbeck, Deniz Undav and Ewan Ferguson. But, Rodrigo will surely look at that and fancy his chances to start matches for Brighton.
