Djed Spence was amongst those to laud Willy Gnonto on social media as the Leeds United winger posted a series of images to round up 2023.

It has been a turbulent year for Willy Gnonto. Heading into 2023, it was becoming apparent that the 20-year-old was going to have a massive role to play if Leeds were going to keep themselves in the Premier League.

Gnonto actually scored his first Leeds goal in his first appearance of the calendar year. And he was often the shining light in what proved to be a miserable second-half of the season.

Unfortunately for Leeds, teams worked out how important keeping Gnonto quiet was to stopping the Whites. And winding him up would also often help throw him off his game. He certainly took his fair share of kicks along the way.

It would have surprised many when the youngster ended the summer window as a Leeds player. Gnonto refused to play at one stage amid speculation over his future.

He has actually been a peripheral figure for much of this season, overshadowed by Crysencio Summerville. But Daniel Farke has been full of praise for Gnonto’s attitude this term.

And clearly, it would be massive for Leeds if Gnonto could find his best form over the second-half of this campaign. As things stand, the Whites have a mountain to climb to catch the automatic-promotion chasers after two defeats on the spin.

But with players such as Gnonto in the squad, Leeds always have a chance.

Daniel Farke needs to get more from his amazing attacking options

The job Farke is doing at Elland Road has divided some of the Leeds fans. Understandably, many believe that he is still doing very well given some of the chaos over the summer.

However, Leeds arguably have the most impressive attack in the division. An Italy international has spent the majority of the season on the bench for us. So you can see why others are demanding more right now.

Certainly, if Farke can get everything to click for the likes of Gnonto, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter, Leeds have the tools to put together the kind of unbeaten run Southampton are on right now.
