Daniel Farke says it will be a ‘difficult job disappointing players’ for Leeds United’s trip to Millwall.
Farke was speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game at the Den, where he was questioned on if he faces some real selection headaches for the first time this season.
While Djed Spence, Junior Firpo, Stuart Dallas and Patrick Bamford look set to be out, Farke will be able to welcome a host of fresh faces into his squad against Millwall.
Sam Byram, Dan James and Liam Cooper have all been back in training, while new signings Ilia Gruev and Jaidon Anthony will be in contention for the first time since their arrival.
The clash with Millwall is the start of a busy week for Leeds as they also make the trip to Hull City on Wednesday, before then hosting Watford in what will be their third game in six days.
Farke says Leeds will need to utilise squad this week
Farke says while he will have to disappoint some players in London, the whole squad will have to be ready in order to cope with a busy schedule of matches.
He said: “Perhaps not the first time but I prefer this situation rather than a headache about not being able to fill the bench. It’s a difficult job disappointing players but we have three games in six games. Hull plays today, we play Sunday and then away again on Wednesday.
“I’m just concentrating on Millwall. I’m confident with this group. I’m sure the longer we have together, I’m confident this group will win many points for us.”
The way the EFL have scheduled this week for Leeds is pretty shambolic when you consider Wednesday’s opponents Hull are in action tonight, at home.
Not only do Leeds have 48 hours less time to recover, but they are also away in the capital which means they will have little to no time to prepare for Hull.
With that in mind, Farke is absolutely spot on in the fact there will need to be some rotation this week and thankfully, it appears in most positions he has the depth to do so.
