Diego Llorente is reportedly closing in on a move to AS Roma from Leeds United on a season-long loan, having spent the second half of last season with the Serie A giants – and has now hinted at a move with an Instagram post.
Llorente, 29, signed a new contract at Elland Road in December, before being loaned to Roma with the option of a permanent purchase worth around £15m. He struggled to start to begin with, before working his way into the side.
It saw him play 12 times for Roma during the second half of the season, including a sub appearance in the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla. He returned to Leeds, with Roma deciding not to activate the initial clause in the loan.
However, Roma remain interested. Now, CalcioMercato report that Leeds and Roma are in ‘total agreement’ for a second loan at Jose Mourinho’s side. Reports differ on whether there will be a permanent clause in the second loan.
Now, Llorente has posted on Instagram. He uploaded a clip of himself running on a treadmill, clearly attempting to remain in good shape ahead of a return to pre-season. He posted an eight-word hint, possibly suggesting a move.
His post is translated as: “We continue to prepare for what’s to come,” followed by the “soon” emoji.

It looks as though a move is inevitable, and that he will be joined by Kristensen – who this week, liked a clip from a BBC podcast linking him with a move to Roma. Leeds need to get rid of him, Llorente wants to go, Roma are keen.
It all makes sense. The one sticking point is that Leeds obviously would like to rake in as much cash as possible. But if Roma are unwilling to buy him, then a loan fee and a permanent clause including a decent fee should be arranged.
