Salernitana are continuing to monitor the situation of Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde.
That is according to Cronache Salerno, who report developments are expected before the end of the window but have been slowed down due to his involvement in Leeds’ first team.
Hjelde has started the season as Daniel Farke’s first choice left-back, starting both the league and cup matches with Cardiff City and Shrewsbury Town respectively.
This is due to the fact Junior Firpo has missed the entirety of pre-season under Farke, and is also set to be out for another four weeks with injury.
Firpo had been expected to leave this summer after Leeds’ relegation but hasn’t seen much in the way of concrete interest, perhaps due to his ongoing injury troubles.

It is fair to say Hjelde hasn’t really taken his opportunity to stake a claim in Leeds’ first team during his two starts so far this term.
In both matches, Hjelde has struggled defensively and in possession, which saw him hooked at half-time in both matches with Leeds behind at the break.
Sam Byram is now expected to come into the team for tomorrow’s trip to Birmingham, and if Leeds were to sign another left-back on top of Firpo’s return, Hjelde may struggle for minutes.
That could leave the door open for Salernitana to swoop in and seal a deal, having been linked with the Norway U21 international all summer.
As per Tutto Salernitana last month, a fee of around £1.75 million could be enough to tempt Leeds into selling.
