Swansea City boss Michael Duff has told his post-match press conference he cannot believe Leeds United’s strength in depth – and that Patrick Bamford, Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony came on.
Leeds cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win on Wednesday night at Elland Road despite a shaky start to the game, after a 1-1 draw against Rotherham. Jamie Paterson scored inside the first minute for Swansea.
But straight away, Leeds came back into the match. Joel Piroe scored against his old side in the fourth minute, his seventh since joining the club in the summer. Georginio Rutter scored a sensational goal.
A goal described as “absolutely outstanding” by Paul Merson. Rutter continued to get involved and laid on an assist for Dan James, who slammed in a third – also scoring against his old team. A solid 3-1 win.
Duff spoke about Leeds after the match, holding back in his praise with a “not bad” verdict. He pointed towards Leeds bringing Bamford, Anthony and Gnonto off the bench – describing them as “devastating”.
“They’re not bad. Bamford not bad, Anthony not bad, Gnonto not bad. They’ve got an Italy international coming off the bench in the Championship. It’s devastating,” Swansea boss Duff said, as per Leeds Live.

It is an embarrassment of riches for Leeds to be able to bring the likes of Bamford, Gnonto and Anthony off the bench. The trio would surely start for almost all of the other 23 clubs in the Championship.
But, it shows the kind of squad that Daniel Farke has available to him – and the competition for places. It also is testament to the form of those who are starting, to keep these three out of the starting XI now.
