The Pink Un have detailed the payment plan in place to lure Norwich City defender Max Aarons to Leeds United this month – and it is a similar kind of structure to the deal in place for Ethan Ampadu, with an initial £9m fee to be paid.
Aarons, 23, has been exceptional for Norwich over the last five years. Given his debut by Daniel Farke in the summer of 2018, he has since gone on to play a huge 213 times – remaining loyal, despite numerous clubs looking at a move.
But after links with some of Europe’s biggest clubs – such as Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester United and other big clubs – it looks as if he is going to move to Leeds. Pink Un reported earlier today that a £12m deal is advanced.
Aarons has entered the final year of his deal and it now looks as if the defender will reunite with the manager who gave him his debut at Norwich. The report now details the structure in which the £12m fee will be paid to Norwich.
Ampadu’s move will see Leeds pay an initial £7m to Chelsea, plus £3m in add-ons. The Pink Un say it is similar to that, in place for Aarons. An initial £9m for the defender, plus £3m in add-ons again. A deal is expected this week.

What a signing this is for Leeds. Not least, because Aarons is an improvement on our current options on the right side of defence. But also, he is still very young – and has had interest in his services from some of Europe’s best.
But instead, he is off to Leeds. A decision will have to be made in regards to Luke Ayling and Cody Drameh, the latter of which has been sidelined with an injury over the course of the last few weeks. Jamie Shackleton, too.
