‘Definitely’… Leeds United now want player Andy Robertson claimed is better than he was at his age

Leeds United have been linked with another new right-back today.

The Whites are in the market for one having lost both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling earlier in the window, with a host of names having been mentioned as potential targets.

Ben Johnson, Neco Williams and Connor Roberts are all believed to be on Leeds’ shortlist, but there is a new name to add to the list, again from the Premier League loan market.

Leeds are now reportedly considering Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay as a potential option, with the young Scotsman having returned to Anfield from a poor loan spell at Preston North End.

Despite his struggles at Deepdale, Ramsay is a player with big potential. Liverpool and Scotland teammate Andy Robertson, claiming an interview with Metro that Ramsay is a better player than he was at his age.

He said: “I can help him and advise him, but I definitely wasn’t anywhere near Liverpool at his age. I was only just starting my journey in football at the age he is. You can tell he’s young and has a lot of learning to do, but I’ll help him in every way possible.

‘He has an amazing future ahead. As long as he keeps listening and learning his career will be special, that’s for sure. When it’s your first camp and potentially first cap, Calvin and his family will all be excited.”

Ramsay is a player Leeds have been linked with before when he was back at Aberdeen, though he instead opted to make the move to Liverpool, where he has made just two appearances.

His time at Preston North End did not exactly go to plan either, playing just two matches due to a combination of a knee injury, and not being named in the squad.

Ramsay is still only 20 and so has plenty of time to fulfil the potential Robertson believes he has, but that sort of inexperience probably isn’t what Leeds need in a promotion battle at the moment.
