David Prutton says Daniel Farke is delighted with Georginio Rutter for one crucial Leeds element

David Prutton has told Sky Sports that Daniel Farke is delighted with Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter because of his “work rate” – naming Rutter in his Championship Team of the Season so far.

Rutter, 21, has gone from zero to hero. Struggling in his first six months at the club, Rutter has chosen to stay put at Elland Road – despite interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and French giants Lyon.

Although the stats only read as five goals and assists in 10 Championship games, Rutter is leading the Leeds line with aplomb. The Frenchman is combining well with Joel Piroe in the final third for Leeds.

Some of his moments this season have been clear evidence that Rutter is far too good for the second tier of English football. But it is also testament to his mentality that he wanted to stay and come good.

Ex-Leeds man Prutton included him in his Team of the Season so far on Sky Sports. He says that Farke is delighted with the Frenchman’s work rate, but urged Rutter to be more clinical in the final third.

“Hefty price tag, took a while to find his feet. There is a little bit of debate as to where he plays with the fact that Piroe is there, but his workrate is something Daniel Farke is very happy about,” Prutton said.

“Two goals three assists, creates goal scoring chances. Needs to be more clinical, not just because of how much he cost but the chances that he’s being afforded for Leeds United,” Prutton told Sky Sports.

Rutter has been utterly sensational for Leeds. The striker is giving fans hope that there is a chance of an instant return to the Premier League. His flair, the audacity to pull off some of the things he has done.

All quite incredible. A natural talent that is finally being nurtured in the right way under the guidance of an old striker in the form of Farke. If he continues in this way, and stays fit, Leeds can gain promotion.

But Farke must continue to use Rutter in the way he has done. Keeping him somewhat on a leash, and not trying to undermine opponents. Simply by doing his job. When the time is right, expressing himself.
