David Prutton predicts the score when Leeds United face Plymouth at Elland Road

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has shared his prediction for Leeds United’s upcoming Championship clash with Plymouth Argyle.

Leeds will be looking to inflict more pain on Wayne Rooney, who has had a difficult start to life at Plymouth, and a poor recent record against the Whites.

Rooney’s side have been the worst away from home in the Championship this season, having picked up just one point from six matches.

Leeds, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last seven and are one of the best defensive sides in the division, and nothing less than three points would be acceptable.

Junior Firpo’s return from suspension is a big boost for Leeds, though Jayden Bogle is unavailable on the other flank, after his fifth booking of the season at Bristol City.

Prutton predicts Leeds vs Plymouth scoreline

In Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Max Wober and Largie Ramazani, Leeds remain without several key players due to injury for this one.

However, Leeds should have more than enough to come away with three points here, particularly with Rooney missing some big names of his own.

Plymouth’s two-goal hero against Luton Town Ibrahim Cissoko is serving the last of a three-match ban, while Darko Gyabi is ineligible against his parent club.

Morgan Whittaker is the dangerman for Plymouth to look out for, though Leeds did a really good job of nullifying him in all three matches last season.

With all that said, Prutton has predicted a fairly comfortable 2-0 win for Daniel Farke‘s side on the latest episode of the ‘Essential EFL‘ Podcast.

Leeds vs Plymouth underlying numbers compared

Leeds and Plymouth couldn’t be at more opposite ends of the scale when it comes to their underlying numbers in the Championship this season.

Though Leeds aren’t top and Plymouth aren’t bottom, the numbers are pointing towards the match only ending one way. Of course, the Championship is never that easy.
