Leeds fans are currently feeling much more optimistic about staying in the Premier League this season.

A 3-1 win over Chelsea and a 3-3 draw against Liverpool has galvanised a Leeds fanbase who were growing frustrated with Daniel Farke, after the German embarked on a run of four consecutive defeats before outwitting Enzo Maresca.

Despite now sitting two points clear of the relegation zone, David James feels Leeds fans should still be worried about the strength of their upcoming opponents.

David James highlights next six games as a potentially season-defining period for Leeds United

When asked by Darren Fletcher if he felt Leeds had turned a corner, the former England goalkeeper told BBC 5 Live Sport: “The home form’s important, but with regards to turning a corner, I’m just having a look at the fixtures here. Palace on the weekend at home, Sunderland away, Liverpool away, United at home, Newcastle, Everton away.

“So, if the away form’s going to be poor, then (in) the next six games they can pick up possibly a maximum of six points, which you don’t think would be enough to get them out of the problem that they’re in at the bottom of the table. I know they’re not in the bottom three, but yeah, I don’t think they’ve turned a corner just yet. That’s my opinion.”

What changes would you make on Sunday? 🤔

Daniel Farke has to find a way to make Leeds United more effective away from Elland Road

James forgot to mention the trip to Brentford on Sunday and the visit of Fulham before Leeds travel to Everton on 26th January.

There is also an FA Cup third round clash against Derby on 11th January before Fulham come to Elland Road on the 17th.

Nevertheless, there is no escaping the fact that four of the next six Premier League games are away fixtures for Leeds, and Farke has only won one out of eight away from Elland Road this season.

Albeit a bit pessimistic of James – who faced Leeds 28 times throughout his career – it is a fair point.

Farke absolutely needs to find a way to get Leeds firing away from home, or else it will be a real struggle to stay up.
