Leeds United retained third spot in the Championship on Saturday afternoon despite only managing a draw away at Bristol City, as the Robins held Daniel Farke’s side to a point.
Burnley’s inability to beat struggling QPR at Turf Moor means the two sides remain on level points behind early pace-setters Sunderland, who were in excellent form once again and beat Oxford United at home.
The Black Cats under Regis Le Bris have gone five points clear at the top of the table at this early stage. A manager in Le Bris, that was once linked with Leeds before the Whites chose to appoint Daniel Farke.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Leeds despite notching a seventh clean sheet of the season in their 12th Championship game, and going unbeaten in seven. But Darren Bent has a worry about Farke’s Leeds.

On a number of occasions during 2023-24, Leeds had to rely on the brilliance of Crysencio Summerville or Georginio Rutter to win games. It wasn’t particularly a team win, often a moment from those two to win.
Norwich away for example, when Summerville stole the show and dragged Leeds from 2-0 down to go and win 3-2. Bent told TalkSPORT (26/10, 2:25PM) that he thinks an element of that remains this season.
“It almost looked like they were hoping on individuals having moments or brilliance to win rather than a real clear plan and a real team strategy. But I fully expect Leeds to be there come the end of the season.”
Danny Mills also offered his verdict on Leeds in promotion chase
Danny Mills was also on punditry duties and discussed his old side having watched Leeds fail to beat Bristol City before the rest of the Championship’s Saturday fixtures. He was disappointed by Farke’s side.
He thinks that if Leeds are going to go and win a place in the top two, then they will have to play a lot better than they did on Saturday to achieve a third promotion for Farke – but there are 34 games to play.
“Everybody around the club midweek were, ‘We’re going to win this league’. They’re going to have to play a little better than that if that’s what’s going to be the case,” Mills told TalkSPORT (26/10, 2:36PM).
