Daniel Farke told Sky Sports after Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Millwall that he is “really pleased” with the early form of Joel Piroe after his move from Swansea City – but thinks the Dutchman can “improve”.
Piroe, 24, netted twice on Sunday as Leeds smashed Millwall away from home. A brilliant display, that sees new signing Piroe take his tally to three goals in three Leeds games. He has been used as a no.10.
Behind, Georginio Rutter – though all four attackers have been interchanging. Their relationship is now improving, with Rutter getting the assist for Piroe’s first – and being involved in the second. Excellent.
The duo are expected to lead the line again on Wednesday night when Leeds make the short distance to the KCOM Stadium to take on Hull. Farke said after the win on Sunday, that he thinks Piroe can improve.

“He’s got goals, he can score goals. He was good at linking the play, keeping the ball. There are areas he can improve. The relationship with Georgie Rutter was pretty good. Really pleased,” Farke claimed.

Daniel Farke really pleased with Joel Piroe form at Leeds United
Already, the signing of Piroe is a bargain at an initial £10.5m. He is not particularly quick, or absolutely fantastic in the air. But what he does have, is the knack of being in the right place at the right time.
His movement in the final third is stunning. Replays show Piroe on Sunday, sprinting past Rutter to make the run and attacking the space because he knows that is where he can hurt Millwall. Intelligent player.
That creation, that goalscoring prowess – it is something Leeds have lacked in a player for a number of years. Leeds look stronger than they have done for a while – and hopefully, it is the start of a solid run.
